“Worlds to Conquer” is a beautifully written, arranged, and recorded album. It has a natural, classic feel and is clearly inspired by the golden age of heavy metal. Album’s sole creator, Andrew D’Cagna, continues his quest for perfection, and even after just one listen, it feels like mission accomplished.
The album’s eight tracks shine with epic precision. As soon as you finish listening, you want to spin it again. With each subsequent listen, the hooks and incredible melodies reveal themselves further, pulling you deeper into the music. There’s a wonderful harmony within these songs—everything happens at exactly the right moment, and it simply feels good.
The songs are long and well developed, building toward the kind of climactic intensity that sets them apart. While the 1980s influence is strong, D’Cagna has clearly developed a distinctive style for Ironflame. Each song has its own identity while still fitting seamlessly into the larger picture.
It’s difficult to pick favorites, as the album is most effective when experienced as a whole. “Shadow Slaves” and “Crimson Shores,” however, have something particularly special that sets them apart. The lead work is once again excellent, handled by Jesse Scott and Quinn Lukas from Ironflame’s live lineup.
“Worlds to Conquer” is a remarkably intricate record, with a lot happening within each song, yet its greatest strength is its melodic simplicity. Once you settle into the flow, you’re taken on a journey with Ironflame.
While there have been many great metal releases in 2026, “Worlds to Conquer” will undoubtedly stand as one of the year’s highlights.
